We support opportunity for all Californians

California’s record high unemployment has hit inner cities especially hard as quality blue collar union jobs leave the state.  Unemployment in California’s African American community currently stands at 19.6%, nearly double the high unemployment rate experienced by the general population.

Access to quality jobs and affordable energy is an important civil rights issue for our state.  High energy costs and counterproductive regulations have led to a loss of 33% of California’s well paying manufacturing jobs.   Not enough new jobs are being created and the few jobs available are too often in food service and other low paying fields.

We support smarter policies to revive California’s industrial economy, lower utility bills and gas prices while providing much-needed resources for crucial social services such as education.
